I had to stop and check three separate sources before I believed this one. On August 14, 2026, SpaceX finalized a $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind Cursor.
That's the same SpaceX that lands rockets on floating barges, now the sole owner of a VS Code fork. It's the largest acquisition of a venture-backed startup ever recorded, and it closed four months after SpaceX went public in the biggest IPO in history.
The headline everyone's running with is the number. The actual story, once you look past it, is a lot more interesting than "big company buys smaller company."
(Quick aside: this newsletter runs on reader support, not ads. If breakdowns like this save you a rabbit hole of your own, ko-fi.com/divyyadav keeps it going. Fully optional, back to the story either way.)
